The business model: decentralised electricity/heat generation – combined heat and power generation
E.ON Energy Projects GmbH (EEP) was founded in October 2000 as a 100% subsidiary of the E.ON Group. Since then EEP has bundled the expertise of the E.ON Energie AG in the business sector of decentralised electricity and combined heat and power generation.
EEP is specialised in developing individual local energy generation solutions with the customer, implementing them speedily and operating them while further optimising them in close cooperation with the customer. The basis is usually the principle of CHP (combined heat and power generation) which leads to a more efficient and thus more environmentally friendly utilisation of primary energy. CHP is also supported by political and regulatory measures and will continue to be developed in the future.
Here the E.ON Group is engaged in a growth sector with good prospects which EEP should develop further on the basis of broad experience.
EEP is currently active in many markets in Western, Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe. Our customers come from energy intensive industries in particular (chemicals, paper, steel and refineries etc.) but also from the municipal sector.
Since its foundation EEP has grown continually: over 50 people from several countries now work in our team which consists of highly qualified engineers and business people above all.
EEP itself is currently operating or constructing five plants with an electrical output of about 400 MW, saving more than 1 million tonnes of CO2 (including facilities under construction).
