NYKCE Nyíregyháza Gas and Steam Cogeneration Power Plant

The town of Nyíregyháza, which has about 115.000 inhabitants, is in the North East of Hungary. Its district heating is supplied from an E.ON Hungária heating power plant which also supplies two additional industrial companies with process steam, including a plant belonging to the tyre manufacturer MICHELIN. Construction work to modernise the plant began in December 2005. A gas turbine, a heat recovery boiler with additional firing and a hot water loop were installed along with a steam turbine. This created a new gas and steam cogeneration plant with 49 MW of electricity output, 95 t/h of steam output and up to 60 MW of district heat output, guaranteeing reliable supplies for all the end customers. The plant was handed over in August 2007. E.ON Energy Projects GmbH (EEP) took a leading role in the development and realisation of the project. The project company assigned the construction of the plant to EEP.

The project is operated by E.ON Hungaria.
